AutoFix AI is an online car diagnosis tool. You identify your vehicle, describe what it is doing, and it works through the possible causes with you — the way a methodical mechanic would, by asking questions before naming a part.

AutoFix AI is not a garage and not a qualified mechanic. It cannot inspect your car. Everything it produces is a set of possible causes to investigate, not a confirmed mechanical fault.

First the vehicle is identified: in the UK by registration, anywhere else by entering the make, model, year, engine and fuel type by hand. Nothing that is unknown is ever filled in with a guess.

Then you describe the symptoms and answer follow-up questions chosen for your specific vehicle and fault. When there is enough evidence, you get a set of competing causes, each with why it fits, what evidence is still missing, and a check that separates it from the others.

Causes are treated as hypotheses until a check confirms one. The advice throughout is to inspect and test before buying or replacing anything.

For UK registrations, MOT test history is used only as supporting background — recurring advisories can show where a car has needed attention before. Previous MOT history never proves a defect is still present, and it never decides the outcome of a diagnosis.

Vehicles entered manually have no MOT data available, and none is required to run a diagnosis.

You can attach photos of a leak or warning light, a video, or a recording of an engine noise. These can sharpen the questions and the ranking, and what can actually be seen or heard is always reported separately from what it might mean.

Media is never used to declare a vehicle healthy. If a sound could be a normal characteristic of that engine family, AutoFix AI says so and asks for more evidence rather than inventing a fault.

Some symptoms are treated as stop-driving conditions automatically — overheating, loss of braking, a red oil pressure warning, loss of steering, a strong fuel smell with a visible leak, and damage to high-voltage components. Those warnings are fixed rules and cannot be softened.

Brakes, steering, airbags, fuel systems, timing components and high-voltage systems are professional work. AutoFix AI will not suggest working under a vehicle supported only by a jack.
